SHOCK - HOW DID THIS HAPPEN

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner

Ok, So I know how this happened, but HOW DID THIS HAPPEN? I must interupt my studying to tell you a little story that happened to me, or us, everyone.

So...the story begins....I was late! Yup late, late, late and not for a date. So as I drove to school last Wednesday, I was thinking, I'll just pick up a little test at the dollar store and take one at school and see what it says.

So I took it at school and the dang thing had TWO lines....so I grab the box to read what the TWO lines mean and it screams PREGNANT! So I called my friend that was at the library and told her to come to the bathroom. She runs thinking I'm stuck in the stall due to a large bug of some sort (not unlikely)!

So she comes flying in and I just point at the test and she just looks at me.....she got so excited and then said "Wait, are we excited"...so of course I start crying b/c I'm scared to death but so excited all at the same time!

So my first thought is......how will I tell Jason. So through studying we formulated a plan, we went to Babies-R-Us and bought a Big Brother t-shirt for Tanner. I'll just put this on him that night and let Jason just see it. Then I thought, I'll have Tanner bring Jason the testS (Oh I went and bought another one thinking the dollar store test was wrong!!!) and then he'll figure it all out.

Side Note: My friend Alex actually went back to the bathroom and dug out the tests out of the trash ....why couldn't I do this, it is my pee however.....I don't know but what a friend!!! :)

So I get home....I say Hi and then run to Tanner's room to change his shirt and grab the camera...which was broken by the way! So Tanner goes to Jason and gives him the tests and they are smaller like dominos I guess, so he just grabbed them and put them in his hand and continued watching tv. So I went in there and said "what did he give you" and he said "I don't know" and then looked down at them and said "does two lines mean not pregnant".....and I laughed and brought Tanner back to him and showed him his shirt.

He just sat there in shock....so I asked how he felt and he said he was SHOCKED and then asked "How did this happen"......

Side Note - Let me just say that this was his idea to try for 3 months and see if it happens again, I guess thinking it wouldn't but wanted to just give it a shot....so technically this WAS HIS idea!

Anyway.....after about 5 minutes he started getting all excited and really happy! So I think we both had that "holy crap" stage of "what are we going to do with another baby".....the projected Due Date is August 8th and I start back school on August 17th so that kinda presents a small problem but I think we can make it work!

All in all...we are excited! I do have to say that I haven't even been to the doctor yet.....I go on Wednesday but I just can't hold back telling everyone!!! :)

Here is the picture of Tanner I took with my cell phone since the camera isn't working!

EXAM TIME

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner

So, in case some of you have no clue .....it's exam time for me! So, I'm at the library more than I'm home and won't have much time to post videos and pictures. I did post 3 new videos from this weekend, which should be available to the right of this post!

My exam end on the 19th of December....so you may have to come back then for any updates!!

Thanks!!

Confession....

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner

So I belong to a mommy group here in Oklahoma City. It's through yahoo so it's all through emails and some meetings when we can. I love it, I get to make new friends, talk about my son, my day or anything else that is needed. However....

One of my fellow moms asked about getting rid of the pacifier....(at this point Tanner did NOT have hs any longer). So I proceed to tell her how we got him off of it, gradual but hard and we were so excited when we did it. This was in September I do believe.

Come October Tanner went to the hospital and I felt so bad for him I gave it BACK to him. I know....Jason and I both gave him because he couldn't hardly leave his bed and we just felt so guilty. Well now it's all he thinks about, it's like a freaking drug.
We'll be out somewhere and he will get tired and just say "pacie" "pacie" over and over. So I've had to start remembering to bring the stupid thing along wherever we go and it's so dang annoying.

I have yet to tell my mommy group that we have reverted back and we don't know when we are going to try to take it away AGAIN! I keep making excuses and now it's b/c of my exams. As soon as I'm done with school we are going to get rid of it, which will be Dec 19th! By then I'll say, oh just wait until the new year and then it's gone! Ha Ha Ha!! So I guess I won't be asking my mommy group how to get rid of a pacie anytime soon!!! :)

Babysitters.....why is it so difficult!

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner

So....it's that time now for Mommy to let her precious baby have a babysitter that isn't a great friend or family member. It was pretty rough on me dropping Tanner off at the sitters when we moved here. I cried the whole way to school and I probably called the poor girl like 5 times. She didn't mind and seemed to understand!

Now, with Jason having to work a few nights a week and with me having to study for finals, we thought we should find a sitter come to our house. Normally Michelle or Alex will watch him but they are getting ready for finals also, so we had to find someone we could get to come to our house who didn't have to study 12 hours a day for finals!

So I asked my mommy group and nobody really had anyone near me, so then I asked around and still nothing, so I finally posted an ad on Craiglist. I wasn't sure how it would work but I had about 20 people email me and the majority said they could watch him in THEIR home. I specifically asked for someone to come to our house so Tanner wasn't being shuffled around at 9pm.

So I found a couple of girls/women that I really liked and scheduled an "interview" with them. So last friday I one appoitnment at 10am and the second at 7:30pm. Guess what...NEITHER showed up! I was so dang mad! How do people not do what they say they are going to do? One did email me to explain some medical problems for being the reason, which was fine but off my list and I have yet to hear from the other one.

So I had a few other girls I wanted to interview, so I scheduled two more today. My hopes were not high...so the first one showed up and guess what, we loved her! She's married with a 5 year old daughter. She's just looking to make extra money and we live right by her work. So she can come by after work and watch him when we need her!! I was so excited!! So then the second girl showed up and I loved her too. She's a college student who is super sweet! Just loved her! Both gave references, phone numbers, etc. So I have one coming tomorrow night for her first night and the other girl is coming Saturday morning! YEAH!!

I didn't think it would be so difficult to find a sitter....but I'm glad I stuck it out. I'm still going to get some type of nanny cam, I'm not above that! I know people think I might be crazy but I'm headed to the "spy" store tomorrow morning to find something. This is my child we are talking about and unless I know you...I can't trust you with the most important person in the world to me!!

So all those moms out there that have had to deal with babysitting issues...I've now become part of that world!!!

Halloween

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner

So halloween isn't the holiday that I've really ever looked forward to. I've never really gotten into it for a number of reasons.

One, most women costumes are way to slutty for me to wear. This year proved no different!!

Two, I never really have an imagination for the holiday, I can never think of what to be.

Third, you don't get a day off of school or work for it! :)
Well last year Tanner was a pumpkin and we didn't much but go to the zoo and walk around (carrying him) and then just handing out candy at the house. Neither Jason nor I actually dressed up last year.

This year we were invited to a friends house for a halloween party, so we were kinda excited that we got to dress up along with our little guy!

So Tanner was a dinosaur. Our friends little boy was going to be Buzz Lightyear so Tanner was going to be Woody. I ordered his costume online TWICE and both times they came back a few days later saying it was sold out. So I ended up buying a dinosaur costume that I actually LOVED! Last year it was so cold that I wanted him to have something warm, and sure enough it was in the high 70's most of the day but it did get a little chilly towards the end of the night.

So Jason and I.....so I went looking for something and couldn't find anything where my boobs were hanging out or the skirt was too dang short. So one day I came across a red haired wig with braids sticking out....I was so excited...PIPPI LONGSTOCKING!! I loved those movies and made up my mind to buy the wig!! I went to the thrift store to get a bluejean jumper and found some striped stockings at a halloween store! YEAH!

Now for Jason...all week I kept asking, what are you going to do for halloween. He just kept saying "I'll figure it out"...I would be out and see a somewhat good priced costume and I would call and he would say "No, I'll figure it out"....well I knew what that meant. I better figure something out for him or he's not going to dress up! So I talked to my friend Michelle in AL through instant messanger one day and she found some website of cheap costume ideas. We were going through them.

1. put on a hat, hang a leaf in front of your face...when someone asks what you are, you blow on the leaf and say "leafblower"

2. Put on a white trashbag and we "whitetrash"
3. carry around a hammer and a quarter, when asked, hit the quarter with the hammer "quarter-pounder"

4. ok I can't think of the rest but the list went on and on.

So Jason gets home on FRIDAY...the day of halloween and says "I have to figure out what I'm going to be"...ya think!
So I gave him the suggestions....guess what he picks......

Yup, he's WHITETRASH! The hat he's wearing is MINE!! He ended up adding some paper and a lot of other things in the bag before we got to the party so he was actually pretty funny!!

Here is Tanner and I, Pippi Longstocking and the Dinosaur!! :)

Hush your mouth.....Mocking Bird Time

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner

Ok, for those of you that know me WELL....you know that I'm not real shy when it comes to a few potty mouth words!

When I found out we were having a baby, Jason and I laughed at how we would have to watch our language right away so we would never be "those parents".....so I know what you are thinking now "Oh no, what did Tanner say"......and you are wrong!

At this point Tanner has not said anything bad, at least from what we know of what he's saying but lately he's been mocking us like crazy! We get a kick out of making him say funny words. We add funny words and accentuate them so those are the ones he repeats! I guess this is what Moms and Dads do for fun (at least that's what we think or hope)!!!

Another terrible habit of mine is my language while driving, it consists of "MOVE OUT OF MY WAY"...or "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?" or..... "DO YOU NOT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE?" so now I hear my mocking bird in the back saying "MOVE" or "WOW" and yelling anything else (not really sure what he's saying) as we drive down the road!

I must admit that it's pretty dang funny but I know those terrible potty mouth words will come up soon enough and we'll both feel guilty and try very hard to not say them anymore!

So hopefully there will be no blogs on the terrible words our poor son repeated but I won't be surprised!! :)

Another weekend gone!

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner

Well this weekend seemed to just FLY by!! Let's see Friday night Jason played Disc golf with a friend, then his friend and his wife and kids came over and we made pizza and played Wii! I think they left around 11pm! So we were exhausted by the time our heads hit the pillows! Tanner actually went to sleep around 9:30 or so and didn't make a peep all night!

Ok..I have to confess, I gave him his pacifier b/c I knew he wouldn't make a peep if he had it! He will stay awake for 30 minutes and just lay in his bed if I give it to him. So when he's sick or nights like that, I give in and let him have it. He still goes to bed without it almost every other night, so I don't feel to bad!

Saturday morning we went to our weekly training session for our financial company and after that I set out recruiting....I got SEVEN people!! Saturday night we went to a Greek Festival with our friends Jay and Lyndi, which is where the new video comes into play! As soon as it's done downloading it will show up on the right with the videos! I must say...TOO dang funny! I'll give you ONE guess as to what he's doing......yup...dancing!

Sunday we were a little lazy, Jason slept in for once this week (I normally get to during the week, well sleeping in consists of 8 am!!).
I had a class from 1-5 today for an exam I have to take for school next month! I ran some errands after and the came home to STUDY some more. WHile I was gone Jason did all the laundry...what a wonderful way to walk into the door, Tanner happy and content and Daddy doing the laundry, does life get any better than that?

Now things are winding down, everyone is getting ready for bed!! This week Jason will be gone for a few days so me and TanMan have to keep the house in one piece! It's always a struggle when Jason goes out of town b/c I have class so late that I have to find someone to watch Tanner. Luckily his sitter is going to do it for me this week, which is so close to the house it will make life a lot easier!

I changed my mind, here is the video here of the Greek Festival!

Just an update....

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner

So just a few updates and a few pictures/videos!

So our new business is really taking off....we know it will take time but we are committed to putting in the time!! My friend Michelle is also going to get into the business in Alabama and I'm so excited for her and her hubby David!

Ok..potty training....WHAT WHAT!! So we have been mentioning the potty a lot. When we change a diaper we say he should go in the potty. Anytime either one of us need to go we tell him we are going potty....the norms (we think). Well sometimes Tanner will say "potty" so we have started taking him...HA HA!! Does he do ANYTHING...of course not, but here are a few pictures from the experience! How can you not love this? Daddy trying to teach him the ropes!!!

I'm in the process of uploading some new videos! One is Tanner putting a puzzle together and the other is of course, Tanner dancing! HA HA!!

Pictures from Dan, Missy and Braden's visit

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner

Tanner trying to be cool I guess and Jack back there beating up Elmo!!
Minot has brought us, a lasting friendship!! Love you Girl!!

This one is too funny not to post of Missy and Braden...LOVE IT!

This picture is of Missy, Braden, Melissa and Jack, the two birthday boys and their mommy's!

Dan, Missy and Braden Blair

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner

Ok...I don't have pictures but I hope Missy will send me some soon! My Best Friend Melissa Blair came to Oklahoma City this past weekend!!

Her husband, Dan's family lives here so they came to visit them. Missy and I see eachother about once every 3 or 4 years. Just the way our worlds work.

Anyway...Braden had his 1st birthday party on Saturday and Tanner and I went. I forgot my camera which is so unlike me! But Missy took a bunch and hopefully she will send me some SOON!! She flew back home today so I'll give her a few days!

At the party, Tanner found a new girlfriend, seriously he LOVES the ladies. Everywhere we go, he will find a pretty girl (and I say girl but they are women) and he just attachs himself to them. He wants them to hold him and play with him. I felt bad b/c the lady he choose at the party was Missy's sister-in-law Melissa. Who by the way had her 1 year old there that was sharing a party with Braden and trying to enjoy her son's birthday and Tanner just kept coming up to her bringing her toys or wanting to sit with her. I felt bad for her but he was having such a great time!!

Ok...so hopefully I can post some pictures of Tanner at Braden's birthday party!!!

A Hit Hit here and a Hit Hit there......

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner

So ....we are all well!! Yup, Mr. Tanner gave me his sickness and I too have been under the weather, actually that is an understatement. I had not felt that bad in I don't know how long.

So this week we have been getting out of the house, doing some shopping, some recruiting for our new careers and just living day-to-day!! We haven't done anything exciting this past week.

We do have one issue, that has been a constant area of concern, so if anyone has any great tips, I'll glady take them.
HITTING!! Yup, our precious little boy just loves to hit. I have no idea why, sometimes it seems like he does it because he's excited and other times because he's mad. We tell him "NO" or "No hitting" but nothing works! I've popped him on the butt but he now realizes that he really can't feel a thing from Mommy's spankings so he just laughs, no really he laughs when I spank him. So I've stopped doing that b/c it's a waste of time. The only thing I have found that works is making him sit down, no matter where he is if I say "SIT DOWN" he gets all mad. He'll do it but regardless, it's not helping the hitting issue.

Seriously, I can tell him "SIT DOWN, we don't hit" and he'll walk over and hit me b/c he gets mad....are you kidding me? We are hoping this is some crazy stage he's going through but it sure is annoying!!! It's just so dang frustrating!!!

On a side note: I have to admit that I love the fact that he can run around and play now. I know it's more work for me but to see him explore the world is just amazing!!!

Didn't expect this to happen----------

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner

So Tuesday morning I woke up to Tanner making a weezing sound and breathing pretty heavy. So I called Jason and we decided I would just go ahead and try to get an appointment with his doctor. Sure enough they had an opening at 11:00am. So my plan was to take him to the doctor, take him to the sitter and head to school!

So I get in the room and right away the P.A. said, he's not breathing well, we need to do a breathing treatment on him!! "WHAT!!" I was in shock, how did I not realize my little boy wasn't breathing well! He was a little clingy that morning but he was playing and running around the house like normal!

So the doctor came in and said the same thing, let's get him going now. So they came in and did a breathing treatment and he was still having a hard time....so they ended up doing two more before sending us to the hospital!! Yup...the HOSPITAL!!! I was a nervous wreck! I called Jason and he said he would meet us there and to CALM DOWN! I felt so guilty for not realizing what was really going on.

So we get to the hospital about 2pm or so and they get him hooked up to an oxygen sensor thing and then hook him up to oxygen (not fun to watch your child have a oxygen tube on his face. You know what I'm talking about, it wraps around your head and goes into your nose. It was so pathetic!

So the\ nurses called a respiratory therapist and they again start breathing treatments. Oh...and after the first one, they hauled him off to another room (with mommy and daddy in tow) to get an IV started in his arm. He was screaming and just looking at us like "why are you letting them do this to me"....it was so sad, it took all I had to not break down and cry!

So after that, he started getting better. They started pumping him with steriods and fluids and he was like a kid on crack! He slowly got better!

We stayed Tuesday night and Wednesday night and finally left about 6pm on Thursday! It was a rough week but all in all he's getting back to normal. The doctor said she thinks it was just a severe respitory infection and he just got it bad this time. We have to keep giving him the breathing treatments for about a week then we can ween him off. He's taking it like a pro, thankfully!!

So our little guy is much better today....and we hope he'll just get better as the hours tick by!! So...anyone that has to have a toddler in the hospital, I feel for you, I really do. Not only does it break your heart but they get so bored and restless that it takes all the energy you have just to help make the time pass!!!

I took pictures of him on my cell phone, I'll try and see if I can upload them, they are kinda cute!!!

The Zoo and of course....dancing

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner

Yup...we went to a family night at the zoo with our friends Mike, Shondra and their little girl Makiah who is about 2 months older than Tanner.

Well we went to see the alligators (it was feeding time) and there was a band playing right by them. Well that was all Tanner wanted to do.....DANCE! He was right in front of the band and just dancing. Other people were taking pictures of him and talking about him. It was so funny. Well some of the zoo people started taking pictures of him and asked if they could publish a picutre of him if they got a good one....my response..." OF COURSE".....So to the right are the videos of that fun filled night.

We did end up going to see some of the animals and had a great time doing!! Check out the video..of course my battery in my camera has been giving me trouble so I ended up taking 3 short videos instead of one nice long one!!

Motorcycles...

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner

Tanner is obessed with motorcycles. Even if he hears a car that sounds like one, he will stop whatever he's doing to go to a window or look around until he finds it. He points and has this HUGE smile on his face.

So today I went to Walgreens to get some things and he was having a fit (for no apparent reason) so I went down the toy aisle and all of a sudden he stopped crying and just pointed at the motorcyle little toy!

So I grabbed it and handed it to him, he just sat in the cart staring at it for (it seemed like) 10 minutes. I was able to finish up my shopping and occasionally here "Mama.....moorecccle" and I would say "oh wow Tanner."

So of course I bought it and when we got in the car he just kept handing it to me, so I quickly figured out he wanted me to open it.....so I open the dang thing and it a good size motorcylce but it's on a platform and it won't come off. So he can't even drive the dang thing around.

But....he played with all the way home. We got home and we went straight to the kitchen floor to drive it.....it was so pathetic...he was pushing it around on the ground with the platform on it, it was making a terrible noise and I couldn't do anything but laugh!

So, I promised him (of course he didn't have a clue) to go to Wal-Mart tomorrow and get a better one (I have to go anyway of course!) So hopefully he can actually play with one!!!

As I was typing a helicopter was flying around and Tanner ran to the window screaming MOTORCYCLE. I wasn't sure how to approach the subject of helicopters just yet!

Poker Pictures

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner

So last Friday night we had poker night at our house and we had a blast! Seriously, I don't think I've laughed that hard in a long time! Here are some of our photos!!!

Followers? Don't you have to post for that to happen?

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner

So my cousin Mandy has a blog that I follow and I saw that she had this neat feature of seeing who followers her blog...>I thought I would give a it a shot! I'm going to try and keep up the next few months and try to get back into having followers! :)

Thanks!!

Where do I begin.....

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner

Ok, yes it has been forever and a day since I have posted last....why....I guess b/c I'm just so dang busy!!

Well Tanner is now 18months old and just keeping us busy! I love teaching him anything new, words, sounds, animals, etc! The list is literally endless! We learned elbow and I'll have to get it on video b/c it's so dang cute!

Honestly, we've done so much that it's just hard to determine what I should post about. We go to the zoo a lot and an indoor play place called Nothin But Kidz Fun. A few pictures from that place below.

I'm now working part-time with Jason's new part-time business, in the financial services business. It's starting to progress, slowly but surely! We are both getting our insurance license and seeing where the road will take us! So if you or anyone you know needs ANY type of financial advice...be it loans, mortgage, insurance, investments, etc....let me know! :) (had to plug our new business ya know)!!!!

This past weekend we had a poker game at our house and it was a BLAST! My girls came (even though they didn't play, Alex and Michelle)! But it was a lot of fun and Tanner even had a great time. Bryan and Gia brough their 3 kids so he was so busy playing with them he didn't have time to realize all the attention wasn't on him! I'll have to post some pictures of the night!

I'm still going to school full time and being kinda lazy which is really bad, but I'm trying to do better! I still read and do everything I'm suppose to do, but I do need to step it up! I'm living like I'm in undergrad right now and that's NOT good! :) I'll have to bust my butt here soon or I'll regret it come exam time!
I'm going to try and post more in the future but I'm not sure who all still reads it since I'm so dang lazy....I don't expect many but I've still got hope!!

We are still around

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner

Well I really have NO excuse for not writing for the past month or so but we've just been so dang busy!

My mom, Larry and Maddy came to visit us last weekend so we were busy hanging out with the family, which is always a good time!

This summer is just flying by, I start school in about two weeks.

So here are som updated pictures from the past month or so!!

Summer Fun

So we have been pretty busy this summer! Not really doing any traveling or anything but just keep our little guy busy every weekend and trying during the week as well! Here are just some of the pictures from all our fun!!! The top picture was from our playdate at the zoo!

This one below is that squirtpark by our house - Free and LOTS of FUN!!!
This one below is from our playdate at the OminPlex - Science musuem with Rian! We had a great time there too!!

Update

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner

So...I have to admit that I've gotten really lazy in my postings, I've probably even lost some of my viewers b/c of it! So I'm going to try really hard to post more.

Last night Tanner finally figured out how to drive his car forward, rather than only backwards. I caught an eye of him trying and he finally did it. I was peeking through the doorway, hoping he wouldn't see me. It was so cute and he looked so proud!

The picture above is from our trip to the lake, Lake Texoma. We were finally able to get our boat in the water and go for a ride or two. I even road the tube being pulled behind. I would much rather ski, seems to get less water in the eyes, but we don't have any skis at the moment. Tanner is really starting to like the water, he didn't mind the boat but HATED the life jacket. Those glasses lasted about 2 minutes but we made him keep the jacket on of course! He likes to get in the float in the lake and just watch everyone play. Then he'll sit on the side and just play with his toys, it's really cute.

So Tanner's sitter is having a baby, MONDAY and he is going to a new lady for two weeks. Yes I said TWO weeks. She's crazy not taking more time off than that but that's what she said. She may be singing a different tune after two weeks but that's ok, we'll see how it all works out. So we went to visit the new sitter the other week and I really like her. She's older and more like a grandma which I think will be nice for Tanner. The lady he goes to now is a lot younger and plays with him a lot, so we'll see how it works out!

Well I may get my grades today, so if no post, could be a bad sign or I'm just too happy to post anything!!!

Try, Try and Try again

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner

So I've tried for I don't know how long to write something to this blog. I've had paragraphs and then been interupted by WORK..ha ha or my sweet baby boy. So I'm trying AGAIN!

So let's update you on the family!

Kelly - Finally done with my first year of law school! I get my grades back around the 20th and if you don't hear from me after that, probably not a good sign! I am now working full time at a law firm here in OK city. Plus I'm taking one summer class. It will help my last semester of school to not have to take as many classes if I take one this summer and one next summer! Let's hope it all works out like that! So far, all is well with me!

Jason - Well currently Jason is out of town in PA for work. He's been there about a week and said that the training is going well. He is due home tomorrow and Tanner and I can't wait! I love my quality time I get with Tanner alone but I sure miss him when he's gone! Other than that, Jason is doing great! I'm hoping he'll start back on finishing his Masters soon but with me in school it may not be possible.

Tanner - we are officially walking now! He's all over the place and honestly it's a love/hate relationship! I love to watch him walk and discover new things but when it's at movie gallery it's not as much fun! Plus the falling down and scratching his face isn't much fun either!

So all is well with our little man!

Here is a picture for our fun in the sun at the house last weekend! We are heading back the lake this weekend so I'll have to try and post some more!

Much Love

Almost Done....

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner

So it's been a while but I have been studying my butt off! Although I'm not sure it all paid off this semester, I feel like I did worse actually I know I didn't do that well but I should still pass, so we'll see how it goes.
I have one more exam left which is Friday. Criminal Procedure...oh joy! :) Actually it should be the easiest exam, not b/c it will be easy but b/c the material is easier to understand.

I got a job offer today...YEAH! I'll be working at a law office here in OK City. Thanks to my friend Michelle Roberts who hooked me up! THANKS AGAIN!! Anyway, so I start Monday and I'm really excited. I'm going to hate being away from Tanner but it will be good to be able to start saving a little money now!
I'll have my weekends back so actually I'll have MORE time with my little man!!

Ok...well better get back to studying and for anyone out there that still looks at this blog, Thanks! :)

CRUNCH TIME

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner in

So, it's that time again...EXAMS! My last day of class is April 28th and then the rest of that week off then two weeks of exams! Oh and Jason is going out of town during one of those weeks! Not only will I be stressed about exams but he won't be around to help out with little man! Thankfully he leaves on a Sunday and gets back the following Friday, so I don't have to beg someone to watch him ALL day on a Saturday or Sunday!

I'm really looking forward to getting this first year behind me. I can't believe how fast it has gone by. I seriously have to stop and think about what month it is, sometimes I pretty far behind in that area.

With Tanner growing like a weed, school flying by, Jason and I have to stop and catch our breath sometimes.

I plan to work this summer and hopefully go to summer school (still on the waiting list at this point).

Our goal is to save save save or pay pay pay (towards my loans that is). This way we won't have AS much debt at the end, but regardless we will be up to our eyeballs in debt!

I KNOW...it will be worth it! I mean even if we don't pay, that can't take my degree away, right!? :) Only kidding!

I hope everyone has seen the video of Tanner dancing to Ellen on youtube. It's so dang cute! We dance to her every morning, I just love that show!

Ok, so if I'm studying hard like I should be I won't be posting here until after exams!! Time to get down to business again.

Thanks again for all the support!

GUILT

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner

So..today the big brief is do...the appellate brief..yeah! Can't wait to get this thing turned in. I have slaved over it and yet still anticipate on getting a C. But whatever!

SO guilt...well everyday I drop Tanner off at the sitters around noon and head to school. I go to the library and study until 3:30 when my first class starts each day, yet I feel guilty for dropping him off EVERYDAY!

So I am now going to drop him off at 1:00..I know what's an hour...well it's an hour more with me and an hour less at the sitter. Don't get me wrong, I really like the lady that watches him but I just want more time together.

Next semester (assuming I"m still at OCU...fingers crossed I get into OU)...anyway...if I stay here my Monday and Wednesday classes don't start until 6pm!! THat will totally rock. I could drop him off at like 4 and Jason get him at 5:30....and still no class on Fridays....Maybe I won't feel so dang guilty anymore.

Tanner is now starting to get an attitude! He screams when he doesn't get his way or he's frustrated and we don't know what to do. We try not to acknowledge it but after a while it starts to work your nerves. We have tried to direct him to something else...so he's not frustrated....and that seems to work...UNTIL he gest mad at something again!.....So any words of wisdom from my fellow moms out there, that would be greatly appreciated!

Tanner Turns ONE

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner

So Our little man turns ONE tomorrow! One year has passed...can I even look back to all the moments we laughed, cried, prayed for sleep, wished for more time....the list goes on. One year..wow all that is wrapped into one year is just amazing.

He learned to nurse, switch to a bottle, roll over, eat (anything), sit-up, crawl, stand-up, and I wish I could say walk, but that hasn't happened. However, we have met so many milestones that we are just so thankful for!!

So, when we got married we wanted a baby right away, and instead we got 3 years to prepare ourselves for our precious baby. He has brought nothing but joy and happiness into our lives. We just watch him and can't believe he's our little boy. We can't explain how much we love him.

So we had a birthday party this weekend. It wasn't a large party but it was just enough for him. Some cake, some toys and some friends celebrating it ended up being a great day!

We are looking forward to this next year of Tanner's life and see all the wonderful things yet to be discovered by having a one year old!!

I love you Tan Man!!

Been a long time

So it's Spring Break for me....and what have I done....well Mon-Wed I was in the library all day, today I've been cleaning the house and studying! OH YEAH!!

So the big news is.....Tanner will be ONE next week! Yup on the 25th our little guy turns one year old!
We can't believe it....time really has FLOWN by....we are so grateful for all this past year has brought us.

Our beautiful son, I started law school, Jason got back into management (oh he got a new job), we moved to Oklahoma...Ok...so we did all the major stressers....moved, bought house, quit job, got new job, started school and had a baby!! Is there a big enough tax break for all the headache, I think not!!

So lately I've been pretty frustarted with money for school...it seems like every other email I get is about a scholarship opportunity but nothing that I would apply to. I'm not a minority, I'm legal, I'm not single, I'm not below poverty..the list goes on and on....but damnit it's going to cost us $100,000 in loans! I mean where is my break for me busting my butt and doing right by my family?? I just get so mad....So I'm hoping to fill out my scholarship form at school and get SOMETHING. I'm trying to transfer to OU b/c it's HALF the price...OCU is private and they thing we should name our first born Sarkey or GoldStar (only understand if you are the school)!!
Ok...I'm done but I'm still mad!!!

Alright....I should get back to cleaning for Jason comes home...its never a good thing for me to have a day off, the entire house ends up being rearranged! :) Man I am just like my mother!!!

Just another day in paradise!

So...Tanner is now 11 months old! Jason and I often reflect back where we were a year ago with each passing month. Every month Tanner gets older we remember what it was like just waiting for him to get here. It's just amazing to think about. We both are just so thankful for him and what he has brought into our life.
Sometimes we talk about what we would be like without him, how much easier it would be to go grocery shopping, travel, everyday activities, but neither of us would want to have that back. We are just so in love with our little man.
Last night Jason was reading to Tanner, and although he could have cared less what was going on, he just loved that the two of us were sitting there with him. I know we will always treasure these moments!

Jason got a new job with Amerigas, not sure when he starts. We are thinking sometime next week. It's going to be back in management again. Things just seem to be going well for us. I seem to be well in school.
Tanner on the other hand is starting the stage of knowing we are leaving. He is starting to cry when I drop him off and I hate it. He cried when we went out Saturday night to the Barrister's Ball. It just breaks my heart to see him with his hands out wanting me to hold him. It's like a catch 22, I want him to want me, but I want so bad for him to be independent. I guess only time will help him to realize that we do come back!

Time to start getting ready for another fun filled day at school! :)

Happy Belated V'Day

So...it was Valentine's day...the day I have always questioned. I mean when I was single it was never fun if I wasn't dating anyone, then if I was dating someone it was akward if it had not been for long .....always a tough day. Now....the married Valentine's world is so much better. We have vowed not to gave into Hallmark and all the other places that suck you in to buying overpriced items. So...no cards...no flowers...and NEVER will we go out to dinner on V'day. I did however get a wonderful surprise....I came home to a hot bath and candles lit ALL for me! It was so sweet! Of course I didn't get home until after 9pm due to classes. The boys stayed up just to say they love me and to let me relax a minute.

After my minute expired they were both in the bathroom, one talking and the other trying to get in and splashing the water all over the place. It was too cute! So I ended up getting out and Jason stayed to brush his teeth and right when he was turning around to get Tanner....he went in head first. Thankfully the water had cooled and was almost drained....but he was in his clothes and diaper and LOVING every minute of it!

All in all...it was a great Valentine's day even though we don't really celebrate! We always tell eachother we love eachother....we just don't think spending $100 on flowers and candy are the way to go! :)

Ok...so when we are making cash hand over fist...ask me again how I view this holiday! :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Another Day....

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner

So it's just another day in paradise! All is well here in OK City. I'm heading to the library to study most of the day. Jason is working and Tanner is playing and being wonderful!

So, I'm having to think about working this summer. Since I did so well in school, I'm able to do the on-campus interviews from the top law firms in the city. I guess rumors are that OU students get picked over OCU. So I'm not going to get my hopes up, but it will be good interview experience.
It's funny how it's all coming together in a sense. I never thought I could actually get into law schoool and now I'm here and doing better than I thought I could. So...things just keep getting better and better for me in this aspect.

So Tanner will be 1 in less than 2 months. It is just amazing how time has flown by. I remember the first two months went by so slowly. I was so nervous all the time. I wanted him to hurry up and grow up so I wasn't such a paranoid freak. Now, like everyone else, I do miss that time. When he would fall asleep in my arms and now....no way. He wants in his own bed. He is very independant and I do love that about him. I want him to be able to do things on his own. It's a catch 22. I want so much for him to need me yet I want him to be able to do anything and everything on his own!
I'm a very proud mother and wife, so I should just let things be!

I just want to say thank you again to my wonderful husband! Without him I would not have gotten this far. He has been so supportive in all that I have to do for law school.

Oh, I do have my funny story to tell about a lunch I had last week. So I get a call at like 12:15pm from school. I am putting Tanner in his carseat getting ready to drop him off at the sitter's house. They ask if I could come to a luncheon they are having for a Judge that is at the school from Arizona. So I'm like "sure." Thinking they must just need to a body to fill up the room. So I get there close to 1 and the room is full of faculty. So I go find the lady who called me and ask her and she's says "Oh..yes...go on in there." I then explained how I had on jeans and she assured me that it did not matter.
So I go in and some guy shows me an empty seat. Oh and everyone is all dressed up, suit/tie kinda deal....I'm in jeans and a sweater! It's a small room with three tables in the shape of a U. AND....it's ALL faculty! No...you don't get it...there are like 15 people and me!! At the head of the table is the Dean, the Judge and two other important people. The Dean gets up and talks a little, introduces the Judge and the other two men. Then says "Let's go around the room and introduce ourselves"...I'm like..WHAT...um...oh my God! How did I get in here??? Seriously, So I'm thinking....what will I say. So I say that I asked to come since the Judge is from the Appellate court in the district where AZ sits. The court is actually in Phoenix, so I played it off, I THINK!!
So after that, we all "talk amongst ourselves"....nobody talked to me for a while. Then one professor and the school attorney talk to me. They were very nice to me and I think maybe knew I was uncomfortable...not sure. Anyway...the Judge gets up and talks after that and then we have desert and it's done. I could not get out of there fast enough. Of course 4 of my professors were in the room and wanted me to talk about it in class later that day.
Honestly, it was uncomfortable but I could not have gotten luckier. Got my name and face out there to my professors and the Judge was pretty interesting.
Maybe next time I'll change clothes and at least not be the only one in jeans and birkenstocks!!!

I PASSED my first semester!

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner

Words cannot express how I feel right now!! Not only did I pass but I did much better than I expected. First semester of law school and I have a C (legal research and writing), B- (Civil Procedure, A- (Contracts) and an A (Torts)!!

The school has you log into a website and watch all day as your grades slowly pop up. So of course I got my C first.....man ole man...I already knew it was a C but I was still hoping for a boost to a C+. I'm terrible at grammar....and I mean terrible. Something I plan to work on this semester. Plus the professor is no real help in making our papers better. As a matter of fact my second memo was worse than the first but that's ok...I'll take it.
So then my B- came in and I was actually really disappointed, I really thought I did my best in Civil Procedure. Then at A- popped up and I was jumping up and down and in tears. I mean I got an A- in Contracts. Now let me first say that prior students have mentioned that last semester this professor is the one that failed the most people. So I was really expecting a C...or should I say I was praying I had a C. Then that A popped up a few hours later, I could not contain myself. I had to call Jason I was just so excited. He was aware of the other grades and I think he was just as happy as I was.
I mean I have a B average my first year of law school. I'm just so proud of myself. It really makes me feel at ease about being here and working so hard. Being away from Jason and Tanner for that month or so studying, it all paid off.

So...now it's back to the books...time to forget about the grades and try just as hard or harder this semester!

Well, I currently have a teething baby and I'm sick. So no sleep for us this weekend!! Good thing Monday is a holiday, hopefully I can catch up on reading and sleeping!!

Thanks for all the support!!!

Precious Time

Posted by: Jason, Kelly and Tanner

Well I thought being out of school I would have more time to post but that was not the case. I am enjoying my time so much with Tanner. When he naps I run around trying to get all the laundry done or whatever needs to be done. I sit him in his highchair while I cook and we just talk (ok me talking to him). We wrestle on the floor and laugh and laugh! I am so thankful for this time I have with him.

It will come to an end on the 14th of Jan. My first day back to school....blah! I know it will be worth it but it won't be easy. I'll probably cry like I did the first time he went to a sitter and the first time with this sitter.

Christmas was great! We went to B'ham and had a lot of fun. The trip was way too short but it was worth the drive. My mom made the trip for me! I have found that I love being around her more and more as the years pass by. Maybe b/c I'm becoming more like her every year! She's just a great person to be around!
New Years we spent with friends here in Ok City. We had a great time and hopefully its a sign of how the year to come will be.
I did not really make a new years resolution, just the norms of eating better and saving more money. But overall I just feel our life together with our baby is just so wonderful I feel to guilty asking for anymore!
Hope you all had a great Christmas and a very Happy New Year!!
